I got stuck on a trail in WV that I could have predicted was going to cause problems if I’d done the research right. Heavy rain two days before the trip, clay soil composition, north-facing aspect that doesn’t dry out quickly, and a section of the trail that previous trip reports described as problematic in wet conditions.
