Vehicle recovery boards for sand, mud and snow
MAXTRAX MKII boards are traction boards you wedge under a stuck tire so it can grip and climb out of sand, mud or snow.
They are sold in pairs, so you can place one in front of each drive tire that is stuck. Many people mount them on a roof rack or rear carrier so they are easy to grab and do not take up cargo space. They are one piece of a self-recovery kit, used alongside a shovel and lower tire pressure.
Overlanders and anyone who drives on sand, mud or snow and wants a self-recovery option without a winch.
They are bulky to carry and need a mount or space. For deep stuck situations, you may still need a winch or another vehicle.
In winter or on back roads, self-recovery gear can get you home when help is far away.
Self-recovery gear works best as a set: a shovel, gloves, a tire deflator and inflator, and boards. Know how to use each piece safely, and carry it whenever you head off pavement or drive in winter.
